Define the Clio intake your firm needs before its first callback.

Your firm needs enough information to review an inquiry and arrange the next conversation. Request a Clio connector with the fields your lawyer approves, the receiving product, and the staff member responsible for intake.

When it happens
No automatic Clio write is enabled. The firm must review access, permitted data, and the workflow before a connection is configured.

A connector does not perform a conflict check, accept a client, calculate a filing deadline, or establish privilege. The firm’s lawyer must approve intake notices and the handling of sensitive details before use.

Prepare a useful connector request

  1. 1

Name the product and intake record

Use Request connector and specify Clio Grow or Clio Manage. Describe the prospective-client destination and the staff member responsible for reviewing it.

  2. 2

Provide the firm’s approved field list

Use fictional information to show the minimum intake fields. Have the firm’s lawyer set what callers should be asked before conflict review and what should be left for the attorney.

  3. 3

Review the handling of intake data

Confirm account access and the firm’s requirements for storage, recording notices, and access to the destination. Have the firm’s lawyer approve these handling rules before enabling a connection.

  4. 4

Inspect a fictional test before use

If a connector is agreed, verify a marked test intake and the staff handoff. The test must not imply that the prospective client has been accepted or a deadline calculated.

Required fields used to prepare intake for a connection
Prepare the intake your Clio workflow needs. This is Penny’s existing required-fields control with sample data; the destination record is illustrated separately below.

Proposed Clio intake — fictional example

Caller
Sample Prospective Client
Broad inquiry
Requests a consultation about a contract dispute
Other-party name
Example Company — only if the firm’s script requests it
Review
Firm staff and attorney review required
Proposed Clio intake: the firm reviews the permitted details before opening a matter.

What your request should establish

Have the firm verify the proposed fields and who can access them. Keep the legal review separate from the technical test: a successful write does not establish that the intake practice is approved.

Questions about this connection

Does the connector perform our conflict check?

No. The proposed handoff carries only the fields your firm approves. Staff and attorneys conduct the conflict review and decide whether to accept the prospective client.

Can Penny take the inquiry while we review this connector?

Penny can capture your configured intake and send it to your office through the call log and email. That gives the team a callback record while the requested connection is reviewed.
